No Excuses – These 10 Foods MUST Be In Your Kitchen…
Sauerkraut is definitely an acquired taste.
When I would try it as a kid I was a little grossed out.
Now as an adult, I take 2 tbsp every day – once at morning and once at night.
Why? Well, sauerkraut is one of the most beneficial foods you can keep in your kitchen.
It’s packed with probiotics and lactic acid. Every day we eat foods that have bad bacterias which make our guts toxic – and sauerkraut is one of the best ways to fight bad bacteria in your gut.
These foods are artificial sweeteners and flavors, and even medicines you take over the counter.
Do you have allergies to dairy, egg, soy, or gluten? Many people with such allergies experience something called “Leaky Gut Syndrome”, and I’m one of them! I find that with my daily regimen of sauerkraut and a Probiotic I take with meals, I don’t experience any significant problems with my beloved omelets… or even egg crust “pizza”!
2. Apple Cider Vinegar
I became an Apple Cider Vinegar fanatic a few years ago.
It’s raw, vegan, unpasturized, and unfiltered.
Although the taste is a bit harsh (shame that it doesn’t taste more like apples…), it masks well in salad dressings as well as fresh juices. I use Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar, which is widely considered to be the best out there.
What is it?
Apple cider vinegar is apple juice that’s been fermented once to cider, then a second time to become apple cider vinegar. Among it’s many internal benefits, Apple Cider Vinegar has many external benefits as well!
It makes your hair shine dramatically (use it as a rinse after shampooing). It also detoxifies your home and can be used as a cleaning product! And when you dilute Apple Cider Vinegar with two parts water, it tones your skin by balancing your pH levels. It does the same thing inside your body when you drink it. Moreover, it can remove tooth stains, and even soothe sunburn when you add a cup to your bath!
Apple cider vinegar also aids in weight loss, as has been published in “Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry.” This may be due to the benefits of acetic acid, a primary apple cider vinegar ingredient.
When you take a couple tablespoons of apple cider vinegar daily, it helps give you a boost of energy, and promotes overall detoxification as well.
Going nuts with sugar cravings? Apple Cider Vinegar also helps fight candida! To really STOP sugar cravings dead in their tracks, drink SlimTea with a couple teaspoons of apple cider vinegar 15 minutes before a meal to regulate insulin spikes!
Lemon is wonderful because it can be added to almost anything. Is your food tasting bland? Lemon may bring out it’s delicious flavor. Feeling exhausted? Iced SlimTea with Lemon will perk you right up!
One huge benefit of lemon is that it helps your liver.
The key function of your liver is to regulate chemical levels in the blood, and it excretes a product called bile. Bile helps to breakdown fats, preparing them for further digestion and absorption.
Lemon juice reinforces liver enzymes, normalizes levels of carbohydrates and increases the production of enzymes.
Lemon juice also works as a natural diuretic, cleansing your system and helping rehydrate the body by replacing fluids in your lymph system.
Moreover, lemon actually helps alkalize your body. That’s right – notwithstanding it’s acidity, actually makes your body more ALKALINE. When your body is overly acidic, its systems can be weakened. Alkalizing the body can help you resist disease.
Now here’s the kicker.
Eat the PEELS. Lemon peels have up to 10 times the Vitamins as the lemon juice. Some say much more!
I use a microplane and put lemon zest on foods every day of my life. And I also use the entire lemon when making green juice. Be sure to use organic lemon!
When you digest lemon peels, you help your body lower LDL cholesterol because of lemon peels’ polyphenol flavonoids. Yes, these are the same miracle antioxidants found in SlimTea!
Plus, the Vitamin C and Vitamin P from lemons help clear blood vessels and reduce the risk of high blood pressure and other heart disease.
4. Hemp Seeds
If you’ve read my recipe book, you know that I like to sprinkle hemp seeds on salads or snacks every day.
Hemp plants provide one of the most nutritious – and versatile- foods in the world.
Hemp seeds contain all our essential amino acids, making it a great source of protein.
Plus, there are tons of antioxidants in hemp from its high Vitamin E content.
You can even use hemp seeds in baking, or swirled into yogurt.
Flaxseed, hempseeds, walnuts, and other superfoods make for a great superfood ‘cereal’ in the morning, without all the artificial flavors or sugary additives.
And don’t let their delicate look fool you – they’re great at satiating hunger and fighting fat!
5. Chia Seeds
What’s this weird item I add to my tea for extra fat loss and energy?
Chia Seeds. They’ve actually been popular in America for a long time- especially if you had a TV and saw the Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia! Pet commercials.
Well believe it or not, chia seeds have been a staple in Latin American diets since the Aztecs and Mayans. They’re known to increase stamina and strength. In fact, Chia Seeds even got their name because they resemble the Mayan word for “strength”.
Chia seeds have TONS of health benefits, and they’re a SUPERFOOD because they pack in all their powerful properties in a super-condensed punch.
A serving of chia seeds is as small as a tablespoon – but they pack in:
- Nearly 11 Grams of Fiber – or 40% daily value
- More Omega-3 Fatty Acids Than Salmon!
- 18% Daily Recommended Calcium
Chia seeds are also incredible for weight loss. They pack in nearly half the fiber we need per day. Eating fiber assists with your digestive tract. And without “continuity”, we retain fat AND toxins in our bodies. Fiber also soaks up fluids in your body; thereby making you feel full and satisfied so you don’t munch mindlessly.
When soaked in water before consuming, Chia seeds explode into soft little round balls that look like fish roe and have a super-soft, bubbly texture.
IMPORTANT: Chia seeds cannot be absorbed in their raw form by your body: they must be ground finely OR soaked in water for 15 minutes before ingesting in order to get their full benefit.
Fat-Blasting Chia Seed Iced Tea Recipe
Without further ado, here’s my favorite fat-blasting Wu-Long Blackberry Iced Tea recipe with Chia Seeds:
- Juice a handful of berries (blackberries are my favorite).
- Soak 1 Tablespoon of Chia Seeds in ¼ cup of water and the blackberry juice
- Steep just under one cup of SlimTea in hot water for 4-5 minutes.
- Add tea to a glass of ice.
- Stir in the chia seeds and juice. Enjoy!
Now you have a fat-blasting, super-food packed icy drink that has all the benefits of SlimTea, such as:
- Increased Energy Expenditure
- Raised Metabolism
- Fat Oxidation
Plus the benefits of this powerful little superfood, Chia.
6. Coconut Oil
Yeah, yeah. You’ve probably heard a LOT about coconut oil lately, as ‘oil-pulling’ bacteria out of your mouth has become a huge craze. I even know people who bathe in coconut oil in order to keep their skin from wrinkles!
You can eat it raw, or even after high heat (be sure to get refined coconut oil for high heat).
There are about 101 reasons (or more) to use coconut oil, but here are just a few:
- Increases energy
- Helps to regulate thyroid function
- Fight intestinal parasites and yeast
- May help prevent Alzheimer’s
- Isn’t stored as fat in your body but provides awesome energy!
- Soothes throat when melted in SlimTea
Flaxseed has a positive influence on estrogen levels. It also may protect against breast, prostate, and colon cancers!
Plus, it boosts collagen growth in your body. Collagen is what helps strengthen connective tissue, which reduces the appearance of cellulite on your body. Therefore, flaxseed FIGHTS cellulite!
It’s packed with:
- Omega-3 essential fatty acids. These are “good” fats that increase heart health. One tbsp of ground flaxseed has about 1.8 grams of plant Omega-3’s. That’s hefty!
- Lignans. These have both plant estrogen and antioxidant qualities.
- Fiber. Flaxseed has both the soluble and insoluble types.
Sprinkle 2 Tbsp of flaxseed on salads, or blend into smoothies!
8. Fish Oil
A super-nutrient also loaded with Omega-3 Fatty Acids is fish oil.
Fish oil is a must-have staple in the kitchens of even the less-than-fanatical health gurus.
It’s high in DHA, EPA, and ALA, healthy fatty acids your body needs.
Fish oil helps treat heart disease and high cholesterol.
It’s even touted for it’s ability to help with anxiety, depression, and even ADHD.
Looking to lose weight? Fish oil helps aid in weight loss.
And for healthy fertility and pregnancies, fish oil is strongly encouraged by medical professionals.
I could put about an entire bulb of garlic into everything I eat!
I’m not trying to ward off vampires or anything… or am I?
Garlic is cooked into almost every sauce, sprinkled in salad dressings; it’s even baked and dipped in bread in many parts of the world. It’s just as effective dried, powdered, cooked, raw, or even grilled.
Garlic is used to treat a variety of ailments… and it’s delicious too!
Here are some Garlic Benefits:
- Strengthens immune system
- Treats hyperthyroid conditions
- Vitamin C
- May treat impotency
- Fights heart disease
- Fights bad cholesterol
- Natural antibiotic
- Promotes immunity with Vitamin B6
- Prevents cancer, such as bladder, prostate, breast and colon
- Regulates blood sugar and enhances level of insulin in the blood.
